Attorney Cynthia Orr Said Laws Interfering With Judges’ Sentences Should Be Struck Down
Attorney Cynthia Orr, president of the Texas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said The Protect Act and its enforcement place too much sentencing discretion in the prosecutor’s hands.
In the President’ Message in Voice for the Defense, a TACDL publication, Orr said the act places too much power in the hands of one person, which can become especially dangerous when dealing with death penalty cases
