TACDL President Cynthia Orr said Government is Trying to Erode Attorney Client Privilege
Attorney Cynthia Orr, president of the Texas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL), said unauthorized government interference in the communication of an attorney with his or her client corrupts the proper function of democracy.
In a Voice for the Defense issue from July/August 2003, Orr said the full communication between an attorney and counsel is necessary. There, the accused can determine if their conduct violated the law and if there is any defense to the charges. Unfettered communication between an attorney and the client also is the time when the individual can obtain information to prevent from later committing a crime.
